Cal/OSHA Inspectors Want More Money for New Hires

The union representing the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health's(Cal/OSHA)workplace health and safety inspectors wants the California state budget amended to authorize the agency to hire an additional 100 workplace inspectors.The proposal from the California Association of Professional Scientists(CAPS)comes on the heels of a February 2006 report by the California Bureau of State Audits that was highly critical of Cal/OSHA's safety oversight of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge project.
