IHE's East Midlands branch recently visited Lincoln's under construction East West Link Road which runs through the city centre. Works on the new link began in November 2014 and aim to ease pressure on the road network in and around Lincoln by introducing an easier route across the city that avoids the High Street railway crossing. IHE members were taken on a site walkabout by site supervisor Adam Round of Tsp who briefed the group on the technical difficulties encountered during construction so far. Issues have included piling under Pelham Bridge and extensive utility work underlying the city centre. Mr Round also discussed the archaelogical finds on the site which have included the discovery of a medieval wall, pottery dating from the 12th and 13th centuries and Roman remains.
