The AGM-154 JSOW (Joint Stand-Off Weapon) is a joint Navy/Air Force program originally begun by the Navy in FY86 as the AIWS (Advanced Interdiction Weapon System). It is an air-to-surface unpowered glide weapon using GPS/INS guidance to attack a variety of fixed targets during day, night, and adverse weather conditions. It is intended to complement the new JDAM guided bomb by offering better standoff range (70 vs 15 miles).
