CAMM/FLAADS/SEA CEPTOR

In early 2006, MBDA proposed the development of a Common Anti-Air Modular Ceptor missile system to the UK government. The aim of the program is to develop a common future AAM/SAM missile system used across air-based, land-based and sea-based platforms to reduce operating costs. The missile is derived from the ASRAAM air-to-air missile, and was sometimes called ASRAAM 2. The air launched version is called CAMM(A), the land-based SAM version is CAMM(L) and the naval version is CAMM(M). The army air defense version of the weapon has been called Future Local Area Air Defense System FLAADS and the naval variant was sometimes called FLAADS (Maritime).
