Export prices to keep rising in April

Following steel scrap prices, export quotes for CIS pig iron added 4% on average in March. Overall pig iron exports from the CIS dropped by 16% to 627,500 t in February. Russian mills cut exports by 15% to 400,000 t (mostly to due NLMK, which reduced export supplies by 93% to 4,500 t), while Ukraine exported 228,000 t, down 18%. Russian companies plan a slight increase in exports for March (by?1% to 406,000 t) – some 197,000 t to the EU, 112,000 t to the US, some 28,000 t to Turkey, 65,000 t to Asian countries.
