Export prices to edge down in March

Export prices for CIS-origin pig iron stopped rising in February as suppliers had to change their tactics due to slow business activity in most sales outlets. As a result, offer prices inched down by 1%. The 3-month forecast of global pig iron demand is not much optimistic. Local segments for steel scrap and finished steel in the key sales outlets for Ukrainian and Russian suppliers (the US, Europe) remain slow, with no significant improvements expected in spring. In the circumstances, major consumers will be waiting for lower offer prices for pig iron.
