Trend to reverse in January

By December 20, export prices for A3 scrap had jumped by an average of $125/t month-on-month. After a steep rise in finished and semi-finished steel quotes in Turkey, business activity is expected to slow down in the metallurgical markets in the forecast period, which will bring finished product prices back to the ranges that reflect actual consumption levels. As a result, the downtrend is expected to settle in the finished steel markets as soon as late January, so Turkish mills will seek to knock import scrap prices down.
