Suppliers to keep insisting on higher prices

Renewed interest in buying pig iron in China and improving moods in other outlets allowed CIS-based suppliers to gain more ground in No? vember, with quotes rising by 10?15% by the end of the month. In the first half of November, consumer activity increased in almost all regional pig iron markets. The situation was mostly supported by healthy demand for the material in the Far East amid the rise in domestic iron ore, scrap and steel prices in China. Besides, suppliers were backed by high steel segment performance in the US, with the weekly steelmaking capacity utilization rates in the country reportedly increasing by 2 p.p. to 71.4% over the last month as well as construction activity and finished steel consumption recovering gradually.
