Problems with scrap deliveries from Kazakhstan to Russia unlikely to be resolved until year-end

It is again unclear whether steel scrap deliveries from Kazakhstan to Russia will fully recover as the Kazakh authorities are denying existence of an export ban, insisting on cancelling of EEC Board's decision that states this barrier must be removed by December 15 in accordance with the Union legislation. Kazakhstan explains the drop in cargo flow by accumulation of railcars at border crossings, which resulted in an overall shortage of them in the country amid tougher sanitary control measures during the pandemic, and proposes submitting the issue for consideration by the EEC Council once more.
