UK raises CO2 tax

The UK’s 2015-16 carbon tax has been set at ￡6.02/t ($9.11/t) of CO2 equivalent (CO2e) above the indica-tive level announced last year, to offset the sharp fall in prices in the EU emissions trading scheme (ETS). The UK government announced in its 20 March budget that it will set the price for carbon in the 2015-16 financial year at ￡18.08/t CO2e, up from an indic-ative price of ￡12.06/t CO2e in 2012.
