摘要

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) administrator Lisa Jackson's resignation leaves a four-year legacy that includes the initial steps to cut the US's green- house gas (GHG) emissions from fossil fuels. Many of these controversial meas- ures survived lawsuits, but several others still face court challenges. Jackson is likely to step down in February, as she planned to resign after President Barack Obama's inau- guration. Following her announcement, Obama praised Jackson's leadership and the "sensible and important steps" the agency has taken "to combat cli- mate change under the Clean Air Act" and cut mercury emissions from power plants. He will nominate a successor, who must win Senate confirmation.
