ERU ban under EU ETS triggers concern

The EU's climate change committee's approval of a controver- sial proposal by the European Commission to restrict the use of certain emission reduction units (ERUs) in the EU emissions trading scheme (ETS) will limit the supply of Kyoto protocol credits in a heavily oversupplied market. But minor changes to the proposal before it was adopted failed to address several important objections raised by mar- ket participants and industry commentators.
