Available from ChromSolutions Ltd is the Armen Instruments Centrifugal Partition Chromatography system (CPC). This technique is particularly useful for the purification of peptides post synthesis, since all the separation is performed in liquid phases. The stationary phase liquid is held in a centrifuging barrel whilst the sample is injected in a solvent of a different polarity and the separation is achieved using partition. This means that the risk of a valuable peptide being irreversibly bound to a traditional silica based column as with traditional LC techniques can be avoided as can unwanted inadvertent hydrolysis reactions.
