ALFA ACCIAI GROUP TO MODERNIZE REBAR MILL AT ACCIAIERIE DI SICILIA

Italy’s Acciaierie di Sicilia, a part of Alfa Acciai Group, has ordered from Danieli a new revamping project for a 500,000 tpy rebar mill at the plant in Catania, according to the supplier’s statement. The new project consists of replacing six roughing stands with new cartridges stands, designed for existing 130 mm square billets (but leading to the possibility of increasing to 150 mm square billets in the future). New cartridges will reduce significantly the downtime related to ordinary maintenance and rolls/stand changing, which is up to 6 hours per stand with the existing stand arrangement.
