Impact of growth hormones on germination of sugarcane.

A study was conducted in February 1999 at Khatauli, Uttar Pradesh, India to investigate the effects of growth hormone treatments on the germination of sugarcane cultivars CoS-8436, CoS-88230, CoJ-64, CoS-8432 and CoP-84212. For this purpose, seed buds were treated by 1.0% solution of the growth hormones GA3+NAA and Banglol-6 for 30 min. Seeds per placed in polybags and germination was observed daily. In general, growth hormone treatment increased the germination percentage of all sugarcane cultivars by 1.29-1.41 times compared with the control, with CoS-8436 recording the highest germination percentage.
