Damen readies to make its largest nozzles so far

Damen Marine Components (DMC) has announced a contract for eight 5,050mm Optima propeller nozzles, which are set to become the largest manufactured so far with its spinning machine technique. The order, announced on 3 September, came from Caterpillar Propulsion of Gothenburg, which will supply complete main propulsion units for four under-construction, ultra-longdistance towing and anchor-handling vessels. DMC, a Damen Shipyards Group company, is to design, engineer, and produce the nozzles and associated head box sets.
