Effect of nitrogen, phosphorus and zinc on yield, quality and nutrient uptake of wheat

A field experiment was conducted during the rabi seasons of 2006-07 and 2007-08 at cropping system Research Project, R B S College, Bichpuri, Agra. The treatments were four nitrogen levels, (0, 50,100 and 150 kg ha~(-1)) four phosphorus levels (0, 25,50 and 75 kgha~(-1)) and two Zinc levels (0 and 5 kg ha~(-1)). The results revealed that the grain and straw yield significantly higher in higher doses of N, P and Zinc application. On pooled basis, 150 kg N ha~(-1) applications resulted in 7.6,16.4 and21.7% more grain yield of wheat over 100, 50 and 0 kg N ha~(-1). The application of phosphorus 50 kgha~(-1) showed 6.4 and 7.5% more grain yield over its lower doses of phosphorus. The application of Zn 5 kg ha' accrued 8.7% more grain yield over no zinc. The protein production kgha~(-1) was significantly higher in 150 kg N ha~(-1) over 100, 50 and 0 kg N ha~(-1). The application P upto 75 kg Zn ha~(-1) increases the 18.1% more protein the 0 kg ha~(-1). The uptake and total uptake of N,P and K by wheatcrops were significantly higher in 150 kg N ha~(-1), 75 kg P ha~(-1) and 5 kg zn ha~(-1).
