The effects of N and K fertilizers on the performance of mango (cv. Amrapali) were studied at Dibba Al-Fujira, United Arab Emirates, during 2002 and 2003. The treatments were: sterilized pellets of chicken manure at 500 g N per tree (control; T1), urea at 500 (T2) or 1000 (T3) g N per tree + potassium sulfate at 400 g K2O per tree, and urea at 500 g N per tree + potassium sulfate at 800 kg K2O per tree (T4). The leaf N, P, K, and Fe contents did not significantly vary among the treatments in 2002, whereas leaf Ca, Mg and Zn contents did not significantly vary among the treatments in both years. In 2003, the highest leaf N content (1.40%) was obtained with T2. Leaf P content was highest under T1 and T3 (0.16%). The highest leaf K content (1.07%) was recorded for T4. T2 resulted in the highest leaf Fe content (64 ppm). Leaf Mn content was highest under T1 (21 ppm) in 2002 and under T3 (8.3 ppm) in 2003. In 2002 and 2003, T2 and T1 registered the greatest fruit weight (129 and 271 g), length (7.8 and 9.7 cm), width (5.6 and 6.8 cm) and thickness (5.3 and 6.5 cm), respectively.
