Salzgitter AG to construct DRI module in Wilhelmshaven

Germany’s Salzgitter AG has approved the project for construction of a DRI module at the deep-water port of Wilhelmshaven, Metal Expert learnt from the company’s report for H1 2021. According to the source, the steelmaker has successfully completed a feasibility study, including studies of the possibilities to construct a 2 million tpy DRI plant with an upstream hydrogen electrolyser, as well as to develop necessary infrastructure for supplying it with raw materials, natural gas and green hydrogen.
