Sibanye-Stillwater raises PGM output in 1Q21

South African mining company Sibanye-Stillwater increased its platinum group metals (PGMs) output in the first quarter. Covid-19 lockdown measures were less severe than in March 2020, enabling mining companies to take advantage of rising global demand. The firm’s South African operations hit 444,609oz of 4E PGMs in the first quarter, a 6pc increase on the 418,072oz produced a year earlier. Its US operations also boosted production, with volumes rising by 9pc to 154,350oz from 141,585oz a year earlier.
