A Field experiment was conducted during rabi seasons of 2008-09 and 2009-10 at Bichpuri (Agra) to assess the effect of sources and levels of sulphur on yield, quality and uptake of sulphur by linseed (Linum usitatissimum). Each successive increase inthe level of sulphur upto 40 kg/ ha significantly increased the seed and stover yield. However, 60 kg S /ha proved significantly superior for oil yield and uptake of sulphur by linseed crop. Among sources of sulphur, ammonium sulphate, being at par withgypsum, proved significantly superior to other sources for seed, stover and oil yields and S uptake. Sulphur use efficiency and sulphur uptake efficiency were the highest when lowest level of S was applied. Among the sources of S, maximum values of sulphur use efficiency and sulphur uptake efficiency were recorded with ammonium sulphate and least with pyrites.
