Feeding poential and preference of larval Cocinella septempunctata linn. preying on aphids

A grub of Coccinella sepiempunctata L, consumed 281 aphids (mixed population of Lipaphis erysimi Kaltenbach and Myzus persicae (Sulzer) during its larval period of 9 days under lab conditions. Prey consumption by a grub on a particular day of its agewas significantly greater than that on preceding day. Wheat aphid, Rhopalosiphum maidis (Fitch) was the most preferred prey of the grubs followed by mustard aphid, L. erysimi and saffower aphid, Uroleucon sp.
