An efficient protocol for enhancement of the production of total alkaloids from suspension cultures of A. belladonna L. was established. Effects of MS-medium supplemented with different concentrations of NAA and BA as well as biotic stress (Aspergillus niger) on both growth patterns and total alkaloids production were investigated. The optimum values of cell growth parameters and alkaloids production were obtained from leaf, stem and root cell cultures, respectively. The optimum supplementation ofliquid MS-medium was 1 mg/l each of NAA and BA. Aspergillus niger extract at 10% (_0.5 mg/ml) after 10 days of cultivation gave the highest value of cell growth and total alkaloids production in the different types of cell cultures. Total alkaloid of thedifferent cultures was identified using HPLC.
