An experiment was conducted on a sandy loam soil in Sriganganagar, Rajasthan, India, during the spring season of 1992 and 1993 to investigate the effect of different planting geometries (60x30, 50x30, 40x30 and 30x30 cm), N levels (40, 80 and 120 kg/ha) and S levels (0, 25 and 50 kg/ha) on seed quality of sunflower cv. MSFH-8. The widest planting geometry (60x30) recorded significantly the highest oil content, whereas the medium planting geometry (40x30) recorded significantly the highest oil yield. The application of 80 kg N/ha significantly increased the oil yield compared to the application of 40 kg N/ha. The protein content in seed increased up to 120 kg N/ha. A significant increase in seed protein and oil content was observed up to 25 kg S/ha, whereas oil yield/ha increased significantly up to 50 kg S/ha. The optimum combined level of N and S to obtain an optimum oil yield of 833.6 kg/ha was 197 kg and 49.5 kg/ha, respectively.
