A field experiment was conducted during 1998 and 1999 kharif season to evaluate the reaction of 11 rice cultivars against leaf and sheath blight of rice (Rhizoctonia solani Kuhn). Out of the 11 rice cultivars, two cultivars, namely, Andrewsali and Monoharsali showed resistant reaction against this disease. A newly introduced rice cultivar Basmati showed highly susceptible reaction.
