EFFECT OF PLANTING METHODS AND EARTHING UP ON GLADIOLUS

Gladiolus is one of the most popular bulbous ornamental plants being used for garden display and as cut flower. It is being grown extensively in almost all agro-climatic zones in India. Its scuccesful caltivation is influcesssed by various agro techniques. Among others, planting of corms in flat beds or ridges and subsequently earthing up and or no earthing up, are very common production techniques in vogue and they also differ from one grower to another. Hence, the present study was conducted to find out the effect of above mentioned agro-techniques at different stages of crop production, on vegetative growth, flowering and corm development in gladiolus cultivar 'Pink Friendship'.
