摘要

A study was carried out at PAU Regional Station, Bathinda, Punjab, India, on grapevines planted in February 2004. The vines were irrigated using microsprinkler and drip systems. Three treatments were given: T1 (canal water), T2 (irrigation with alternate canal and tube well water) and T3 (tube well water). The data on stem length, number of leaves and scion girth of vines under all the treatments were collected. The basic data on weather, soils and canal closures were collected using standard methods. The pH and EC of soils under canal water were 8.2 and 0.19, while in the case of soils under tube well water, these figures were 8.5 and 0.23, respectively. From the data, it was clearly observed that under tube well irrigation (T3), the growth of the vines was significantly less than canal water (T1) and alternate irrigation (T2) under both irrigation systems. However, the differences between the results of canal water and alternate irrigation were not significant. It may be concluded that in case of shortage of canal water, fairly encouraging results could be achieved by giving alternate irrigation with underground water..
