Effect of Seed Soaking on Yield Attributes and Yield of Late Sown Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)

A field experiment was conducted to study the effect of seed soaking in water on the yield attributes and yield of wheat (Triticum aestivum) during 1996-97. The results showed that with delay in sowing from Dec. 15 to Jan 5 there was significant reduction in yield. Seed soaking for 6 and 12 h resulted in significantly higher yield as compared to unsoaked seed. The soaking of seed in water for 12 h was significantly at par with 6 h, but 12 h soaking gave the highest yield of wheat.
