摘要

The Government of India has appointed a court of inquiry to go into the circumstances leading to the May.22 crash of an Air India Express aircraft at the Bajpe airport in Mangalore. This court of inquiry which would be headed by a former Vice Chief of the Indian Air Force (IAF), Air Marshal (Rtd) Bhushan Nilkanth Gokhale will have its headquarters in New Delhi. The court of inquiry which would be supported by four experts from different fields has been directed to submit its final report by August.31. In a major departure from the convention, the Government of India chose an expert in place of a judge to carry out the Mangalore crash probe. In the past, air mishaps used to be probed by air crash probe courts headed by serving judges.
