Letter to the editor with regard to the article entitled: 'Crossing boundaries, A comprehensive survey of medical licensing laws and guidelines regulating the interstate practice of pathology'

This correspondence is being tendered by the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners (Board) in response to its concerns about conclusions made in a recent article published in your periodical entitled "Crossing Boundaries, A Comprehensive Survey of Medical Licensing Laws and Guidelines Regulating the Interstate Practice of Pathology", which was published in March of this year. It has come to the Board's attention that this article has apparently caused certain out-of-state licensed pathologists and other specialists to cease rendering, or threaten to cease rendering, consultations to Nevada licensed pathologists or other specialists, due to liability concerns. The Board believes that the representations in the article, related to how Nevada law applies to out-of-state licensed specialists, are erroneous.
