New figures showing that black and Asian doctors earn lesson average than their white colleagues are evidence of "unacceptable discrimination" in NHS pay levels, the BMA has said. Data from NHS Digital on mean basic pay show that among women, black doctors earn ￡801 a month less, and Asian doctors ￡344 a month less than white colleagues. Among men, white doctors earn ￡791 more a month than black colleagues and ￡298 more than Asian peers. The findings were based on an analysis of 750 000 NHS staff salaries in England.
