Where is the evidence for triage apps?

Armstrong describes the rush by private firms to transition a clinical decision support system to our mobile phones (Cover Story, 20 January). This adds another layer of uncertainty to an already hazy field of medicine. We lack evidence from randomised controlled trials for NHS pathways in their current, telephone based form. Retrospective evaluations, before and after studies, and case study analyses are no substitute.
