Intracranial incidental lesions on neck CT scans in thyroid cancer patients

Computed tomography (CT) scans play critical roles in the detection and characterization of thyroid lesions, the evaluation of the extent of disease relative to adjacent tissues of the neck, and the detection of cervical lymphadenopathy and regional metastases. Because standard neck CT scans for thyroid cancers range from the skull base to the thoracic inlet, intracranial lesions are seldom detected.
