Determination of residual oxytetracycline in honey with an immunoassay kit

The ELISA kit Ridascreen 'Tetracyclins' was tested for the semiquantitative analysis of oxytetracycline (OTC) in honey. For samples spiked with 2-250 ppb OTC, mean recovery was 90.4% when the samples were cleaned on a prepacked reverse-phase column(C-18 cartridges) and 88.6% if C-18 and Diol cartridges were used in a 2-stage cleaning. Detection limits were less than 50 ppb.
