Sweden-based machinery and tool maker Sandvik reported more orders across all segments in the second quarter as end-market demand improved across all product segments. Orders increased to SKr25.9bn ($3bn) in the second quarter, returning to pre-pandemic levels, from SKr19bn in the same prior-year period. Revenue increased to SKr23.5bn in the second quarter from SKr20.2bn a year earlier. Still, revenue in the latest quarter remained 11pc lower than the same quarter of 2019, the last year before the pandemic struck. Order intake was stronger across all end markets: mining, engineering, automotive, energy, construction, and aerospace. Heading into the next quarter, Sandvik expects demand from the mining, automotive, construction, and aerospace end markets to flatten, while demand from the engineering and energy end markets should continue to grow.
