Chinese tungsten exports were 47pc higher in the first eight months of 2021 than in the same period a year earlier. Shipments of all forms of tungsten were 14,082t W, with total revenues of $515.6mn giving an average price of $36,615/t W. Similar growth in exports for the year as a whole would take total Chinese shipments of tungsten from 13,640t W in 2020 to 20,110t W in 2021. In August, China exported 1,910t W of tungsten products at a total cost of $73.8mn and an average value of $38,675/t W. In the first eight months of the year, tungsten oxides accounted for 33pc of total Chinese exports of tungsten, followed by tungsten carbide (26pc), tungstates (13pc), tungsten metal powders (9pc), ferro-tungsten (7pc), wrought tungsten (6pc), unwrought tungsten (4pc) and tungsten wire (2pc).
