Summer storms are increasing. The Arctic ice cap is shrinking. Sea levels are ris. The average temperature in the continental U.S. last year was the warmest on record. Despite a small but vocal chorus of naysayers, there is little doubt among most scientists that the effects of global warming—caused by increased emission of carbon dioxide from factories, power plants, automobiles, and other users of fossil fuels—is upon us.
