Cu: Mitsubishi reduces mine output in 2019

Japanese trading house Mitsubishi posted a 4pc decline in copper mine output in 2019 compared with a year earlier, as production in Chile was hampered by severe drought and social unrest. Mitsubishi's copper production declined to 238,000t last year from 249,000t in 2018. This was driven by reduced output at its Los Bronces mine in central Chile, which was affected by continued drought, and its Escondida mine in northern Chile, where social unrest led to output halts.
