Standard 62.1 Committee Revises Minimum Standards for Air Distribution Systems, Building Envelopes

The ASHRAE Standard 62.1 committee revised and approved Addenda 6C, 6F, and 6G last month, possibly setting the stage for their release for public review this summer. The trio of addenda are designed to help promote "acceptable indoor air quality" in commercial and institutional buildings. Each addendum was approved 8-0-1 at the 2000 ASHRAE Winter Meeting in Dallas, Texas, in February. As Committee Chair, Andy Persily chooses to abstain from voting. Persily said he expects the Standards Projects Liaison Subcommittee (SPLS) to review the proposed addenda when it meets April 7-9. The addenda must pass SPLS muster before ASHRAE will release them for public review.
