Australia’s largest onshore manganese deposit is expected to produce its first ore later this month, with the first offtake shipment to follow soon after. The first stage of the 263mn t (grading 10pc manganese) open-pit Butcherbird project in Western Australia is in its wet commissioning phase and on track to ramp up to its 341,000 t/yr production rate, project owner Perth-based Element 25 said.
