Metal futures: Markets higher ahead of relief

Base metal prices on the London Metal Exchange (LME) mostly saw limited gains in the official morning session today with tin the biggest riser in the complex, while investors later in the day were heartened by the passage in the US Congress of a $1.9 trillion pandemic relief measure. Three-month LME copper rose by 0.5pc to $8,917/t, while in the US Comex’s next most active month copper contract gained 0.6pc to close at $4.03/lb.
