摘要

The scanning vibrating electrode technique (SVET) system is applied to measure corrosion current density distributions around a metal electrode. In this report, the basic characteristics of SVET and examples of its application are explained. Because the identification sensitivity and the resolution of the system are affected by the measurement conditions, including the height of the sensor probe from the specimen surface h, vibration frequency f, and conductivity of the test solution k, these conditions must be arranged taking into consideration the target to be measured, the corrosion rate, the locations of anodes/cathodes, etc. However, recently, as image-processing and detection techniques for microsignals are being developed, the SVET system will establish itself as a useful corrosion measurement tool.
