Research and development of super marine gas turbine

The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has adopted a new amendment to the MARPOL agreement regarding reduction of atmospheric pollution caused by shipping. A consortium of five Japanese companies are developing a new was turbine which is significantly more fuel efficient than existing turbines and which produces lower NO{sub}x emissions. This paper outlines the development background. research and development and the latest research results of this project.
