A view on technology trend of esterification of vegetable oil

BDF (Bio Diesel Fuel), that is esterified vegetable oil, is one of the eco-friendly new fuels [hat recently draw much attention. In Europe there am cases that national government subsidizes the manufacturing of BDE from rapeseed oil as a policy of agriculture promotion. In Japan as well, there are a few cases that waste vegetal)le oil is manufacturer into BDF and used as fuel for automotive. BDF is a new foci and its performance as diesel fuel and the properties of its exhaust gas are not very clear yet, therefore there's still much mom for improvement. But it is clear also that as a vegetable oil it can contribute to reduce CO{sub}2. In this paper, basic properties of BDF and the composition of its exhaust gas are described in addition, some examples of utilizing BDF are introduced.
