Cost minimisation without compromising quality is the holy grail for technical superintendents across the shipping and offshore sectors. When it comes to spare parts there are serious implications to using unauthorised options, particularly from an insurance point of view. However, a growing trend amongst OEMs is to offer re-manufacturing of parts, effectively bringing them back from the brink of death, thereby significantly lowering spares supply costs.
