Ocean acidification may cause $1trn damage

While the lowering pH of the ocean has been an unavoidable chemical response to rising carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, how it will affect life in the ocean hasn't been clear. But an international team of 30 experts, led by Dr Sebastian Hennige and Prof Murray Roberts from Heriot-Watt university's Centre for Marine Biodiversity & Biotechnology, has concluded in a report published by the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) that ocean acidification is already underway and is an issue of serious environmental and policy concern.
