Sekimizu to step down

IMO secretary-general, Koji Sekimizu, will not seek re-election to his post when his current term finishes at the end of 2015, due to personal reasons. On his blog Sekimizu stated his desire to support his wife, who has a serious health issue, saying: "I would like to ensure that, when needed, I could give more time for her care. "I believe that the most important thing is to be honest to yourself. I was always honestto myself when I applied for a post at IMO and again I am honest and loyal to myself in taking this major decision in my life."
