Case report a case of microscopic polyangiitis

The association of rapidly progressive glomerulo-nephritis (GN) and pulmonary haemorrhage has been described in: (i) immune complex GN, mainly systemic lupus erythematosus; (ii) antiglomerular basement membrane GN; and (iii) antineutrophil cytoplasmic auto-antibody (ANCA) with renal and pulmonary disease. AN-CAs constitute markers of a group of systemic vasculitis including Wegener's granulomatosis, microscopic poly-angiitis (MPA), Churg-Stauss angiitis and necrotising and crescenteric GN without extrarenal involvement. Two patterns of ANCA have been described by indirect immunofluorescence: a cytoplasmic pattern (c-ANCA) to proteinase 3 and perinuclear pattern (p-ANCA) with myeloperioxidase antibodies (MPO).
