Hoeegh Autoliners is a well known name in the car carrier industry, having been involved in shipown-ing since 1927. Founded as Hoegh & Co by Leif Hoegh, the company is privately held after it was delisted in 2003 by the third generation of the family. Of late the most significant change to the company came in 2008 when operations moved from Bermuda to Norway, when it received 12 car carriers from AP Moller Maersk. As part of that transaction, Maersk took a 37.5% stake in the car carrier, bringing its total stake to 38.75%. Hoegh Autoliners has a fleet of 52 vessels ranging from 2,000 CEU to 8,500 CEU. Total carrying capacity is 325,100 CEU, with five more vessels in the pipeline.
