Major propulsion revamp for Odfjell tankers

Chemical tanker owner operator Odfjell is upgrading the propulsion system for 19 vessels with newtechnology to optimise energy efficiency. The work involves Kappel propeller blades, fairing cone and rudder bulb, shaft generator gearbox and Odfjell determined settings. These combined upgrades are expected to reduce fuel consumption and emissions by up to 20% and achieve the highest score of'A+' on the Rightship energy rating. The concept was developed by Odfjell inclose cooperation with MAN Diesel & Turbo, Grenaa Motorfabrikand ABB Turbocharging.
